About the Trust Institute

What We Believe

Years of work in creating breakthroughs, international implementation of alliances, research of best practices, and both operational and consulting experience has taught us some important lessons:

  1. Collaboration increases innovation, reduces non-value added work, improves productivity;
    collaboration is the primary source of value creation.

  2. People support what they help to create,
    therefore engage those who will be impacted by changes in the design of a new system.

  3. Best Practices shift the potential of achieving success, (“Bext” practices are the next-gen to evolve)
    organizations that fail to use Best Practices fail more frequently and increase their Risk Profile dramatically

  4.  Three things are absolutely essential for a Collaborative Leader to get right:
        • Align on a Common Vision & Strategy that produces sustainable Competitive Advantage
        • Build a Culture of High Performance Teamwork & Trust
        • Orient Operational Processes, Metrics & Rewards to fit the new vision and culture
  5. Differentials in thinking drives innovation,
    but without a foundation of trust, differences become dysfunctional, disruptive, and even destructive.

  6. 80-90% of what you need to know already exists in your organization,
    collaborative innovation taps into the creative capabilities already genetically encoded in people.

  7. 90-95% of people are naturally collaborative and prefer to work in teams, as long as trust prevails;
    only a small percentage are naturally adversarial, but they can be very dangerous.

  8. Sharing expands, hording contracts;
    courage enlarges, cowardice shrinks resources and opportunities.

  9. Culture, not personality, drives the majority of human behavior;
    Leaders are the primary determinants of how culture will bring out the best or worst in people.

  10. There is a “design framework” behind every successful result,
    and once you understand the “architecture” you can translate learning from one organization to another.

The Trust Institute works with senior executives and their management teams in companies that are committed to achieving extraordinary results through breakthroughs generated from a foundation of collaboration.

We are dedicated to the universal adoption of the architecture, skills and philosophies of collaborative innovation to think, create and work together, producing results far beyond

We provide each of our clients with a unique set of

  • architectures,
  • strategies,
  • systems,
  • structures, and
  • solutions
    ......that produce real, measurable, concrete results.

what would otherwise be possible.

Our workshop framework:

  • Creates strategic & operational alignment,
  • Is action oriented,
  • Uses best practices to ensure long term success,
  • Ensures high trust, high performance teamwork
  • Minimizes future breakdowns, and
  • Creates pathway & guidance for operational excellence
  • Reduces non-value-added work and complex legal contracts.

We concentrate on the Key Factors for Success which seasoned managers affirm the essential ingredients to effective collaborative innovation implementation:

  • Properly trained innovation champions, and project managers
  • Powerful Strategic Imperative to guide the effort
  • Clear operational performance processes with breakthrough measurements
  • Effective innovation management process designed for the alliance
  • Proper leadership support for Collaborative Innovation
  • Unlike typical consultants, we are “Resultants, Capability Builders and Organizational Design Architects" who deliver a tested and effective strategic system and process methodology that harnesses the innovative power of differentials in thinking across internal and external boundaries. In many circumstances, we also serve as “Resultants” (a “player-coach who gets results versus a “consultant” that focues on giving advice.)

Who We Are

We are a diverse group of senior executives, thought leaders, subject matter experts, and “pracademics”

Definition: Pracademic -- a senior leader with deep experience in practical affairs who chooses to teach up-and-coming leaders, enabling them to apply learnings to real-life situations

who have come together because of a common belief system (see above) and we have a powerful commitment to bring the very best collaborative practices, methods, principles, metrics, and processes to the business world in a systematic, integrated manner that enables leaders to empower their organizations to achieve remarkable results.

We have been there, seen collaborative approaches succeed with amazing results.
But we have also been tempered in the crucible of destruction as we have watched organizational masterpieces be tragically taken apart and ransacked by misguided leaders whose self-interest and thirst for power destroyed excellence before our very eyes.

We now understand the processes of construction and destruction, the causes of human behavior, and some fundamental frameworks for achieving great results that can be infused into the mindsets, skillsets, and toolsets of leaders to attain and sustain the collaborative strategies for success and competitive advantage.
